This is Digipak research at which i have analysed three different artists; Schoolboy Q, Kris Kasanova and Devlin. I have picked three different albums and have analysed there front and back covers and gave my personal view aswell as things which we could use in order to help our digipak.
Music Video Draft 1
Below is our first music video draft that we created as a group. This is not the final video, these are some of our ideas which are likely going to be modified or changed.
Magazine Article research
From this magazine article the first thing which stood out to me was the name of the artist in different fonts and sizes at which surrounded a photo of the Temi himself. This is something I feel would look very good on our magazine as C.DOT isn't a long name and I think that this is a good method for generating publicity as people are then likely to remember C.DOT name as he is an up coming artist. This article is two pages at which seems to occur a lot in XXL magazines and therefore we are likely to replicate this. I like the right hand corner exclusive however we are more likely to not have the word separated. Like this magazine article there will be some stand out sentences from Connor himself, this is seen in a lot of articles.
From this magazine article you can see that this is also a two page article with a whole page taken up by the artist himself. This is a method at which promotes the artist. I liked the quote "life of a shooting star" this appealed to me as I was thinking we could change this to "Life of a Rising Star" to promote C.DOT as a new artist. However this article is fairly short at which we want to give our audience as much information as we can about C.DOT.
This article is a two page article at which is a similar theme throughout XXL magazines. This is similar to the one above at which is mainly promoting the artist. As he is such a well known artist his initials already tell the audience who he is whereas C.DOT is a rising rapper. I like the layout however I think that the article is too short which doesn't provide enough information about C.DOT.
This magazine article is also a double page spread. In this article the photo of Nas takes up 1 and a half of the page. This is the first article at which the photo has a background which is in the gym. The text has a specific font throughout the article at which also has a stand out line which is shown in the larger font. At the start of the column similar to others there is a large character.
This article is also a double page spread at which also has the artist on a full side of the page. The column itself is divided by the artist on a motorbike at which shows he is the centre of attention.
Magazine Article Construction
Today I used the website Graffiter at which I experimented various graffiti designs and some of the results can be seen below. I also used a font graffiti website at which will be on my C.DOT wall in the magazine article.

Tour Poster Second draft
After receiving feedback from our teachers they did not like our first draft. They did not like the three Connors and said that C.DOT looked like the KKK at which is an image we do not want to portray. However they liked the top of the tour poster however wanted more variety in the color of the photos and the back ground. We therefore went back to the tour poster and we produced our second draft which can be seen below:

Possible front page of Magazine Article
This is C.DOT's 2 magazine covers for his article inside the XXL magazine. As you can see shot of C.DOT is the same but the magazine covers differ in Colour and layout. One of these covers will be included in our final magazine article.

Alex Echo Group (34)
The concept of Alex Echo's group is very good. The go pro used throughout to many different people in different locations. I very much like the way they have used the bag cut away to change location and person. The locations they have used are very impressive especially Barcelona, therefore I believe the narrative side of the video is very impressive. However the performance side of the video could do with some practice but the overall video is good.
Alleyways (38)
This video was graded the highest in the year and also did very at the BFI media show case. I believe the music video that they have created is very close to real media products in how it is filmed and how they perform as a group. Their lip syncing especially the main singer was very good and she is a very natural performer
Hybrid Beauty (34)
This video was more of a narrative based video including some very good shots however I believe there is no actual slight story to the video and there are no landmarks established throughout. I believe they should also just stick to the one artist that is performing. There are good shots throughout also using the go pro underwater which is very effective. There is also no title identifying the artist or song which is important for promotional was for the media product. Although this is a group performance the song mostly comes across as a solo artist approach. Lacking artist identity.
Cosmo (39)
This is a very unique video which fits in very well with the genre he has chosen. He uses very good props wen filming and his performance is very good and unique matched to his genre. I also very much like how the whole video that is focused mainly around Cosmo not including any one else apart from a few shots. This was my favorite music video which featured.
Encoded (33)
The setting of the music video was very impressive such as the Encoded sign and the confetti which was used at the end this was very impressive. The lip syncing was also good in places however I did find the stage was used to much and shouldn't of come in till towards the end of the video. Also found parts of the shots were just used to fill gaps in the video and had no meaning behind them
Group 6 (36)
Very good shots throughout also including many different variety and using props very well especially lighting which is used very well throughout whilst using the white screen and shadow. Shot locations could be thought about more do not like the use of the park, however good performance in most shots. Lacking artist identity.
Group 7 (35)
The performance throughout is mixed but the shot locations and ideas that have been filmed are very impressive, the graffiti throughout the video and the effects used on the wall have been executed very well and improves the video, the time lapse is also a very good effect.
Group 8 (33)
Good variety of shots and how the artist is positioned in the shot throughout also with consistent performing. Dancing shots are good but very repetitive the video is just lacking something which would give it more marks. Lacking artist identity.
Group 9 (32)
Very much enjoyed this video good song choice to do the music video for, just lacking variety of shots comes across it was all filmed in one day and lighting could be improved or possibly just needs colour correcting. However performance was good which shows enthusiasm. Lacking artist identity.

C.DOT Poster
This is a promotional poster at which can be advertised in various ways. This is promoting C.DOT's first new album, Yellow Shop Dreams which is being released on the 18th December 2015.
Front page of magazine article research
Below is front page magazine article research, at which I have researched XXL magazines, and 5 rap artists. There is detailed information below about a variety of different front pages, and how we are going to use some of the ideas in creating our own front page magazine article.
Change To Colour Effect
I found an effect which would gradually allow me to change the colour of the video. This means a colour would morph from one colour to another, this can be seen in the picture below. I decided to change the yellow graffiti to red over a 3 second period. This is very effective and keeps the audience concentrated as it is not an everyday occurrence. I selected the colour dropper tool to select the original colour, and transformed it to a colour palette chosen red.
Implementing the 'Where R U Now' Effect
Today I synced the Photoshop drawing effect to the video, this was difficult as I had to cut drawing that took me a long time, despite this I cut the video to the beat and it worked well, this can be seen below.
Replication/Rotation Effect
I was looking for effects for the music video and I came across replication effect. Instead of making the videos separate when they are replicated, it sews them together meaning I can zoom and rotate the video as a whole, rather than the reduplicated videos individually. This will be a running theme throughout the video.
Slow Motion Effects
I learnt how to make clips play in slow motion, this is completed by clicking on the clip and selecting 'Speed/Motion'. From there you can change the speed percentage or even reverse the clip so it plays backwards. This is extremely effective as it can slow down the pace of the video without actually changing the speed of the cuts.
Opacity Overlap Effect
I found an effective way to fade in and out of videos without them fading to black, this opacity effect allows me to blur between multiple clips whilst the viewer can still see the original. This was done by changing the opacity of the video as seen below in the premiere screenshot.
Camera Blur Effect
I found an effect which gives the visual of a camera focusing. The genre we chose often chooses to focus the camera mid shot. This may be seen as unprofessional in other genres but works well with rap music. Especially as the first shot as it adds enigma to the character
Music Video Channel Authenticity
To make our video more authentic we added features to make it look as if its on MTV, this included a channel snippet in the start and I logo seen throughout which can be seen below. These are pictures from the premiere edit.
First Stages of Website production
Here are the first templates of C.DOT's website. These
screenshots have been taken from an earlier stage and the website is currently
just been adjusted in the final parts of the corrective stage of the website
production. Here is how the website first looked and the final website will be
up on the blog soon. As these are still images you cannot see the moving detail
of the website. The background on the pages is the parallax video which had
been previously been created for the music video but is now being used as a
moving background for our website. This is a good use of synergy promoting
C.DOT's new single Nikes On My Feet.

Today we filmed in Great Baddow to change a couple of shots in our music video. Below is a video up close and personal to C.DOT. It behind the scenes of C.DOT's music video - Nikes on my feet.
Digipak - Front and Back of album
Today we created the first draft for our front and back album cover and made it into the correct size to fit a CD case. As this is our first draft we will receive feedback on what we could do to improve this. Below there are a few photos which show the style we think works well with our artist.
Editing Example
This is a section of editing and how Connor used the Justin Bieber layered effect in his latest song 'where are you now?'. Connor used this effect and created an effect in our video which can be seen below. The process takes a long time to complete as he has to create lots of frames at which all generally have to be slightly out of sync for it to completely work.
Halfway feedback from group
Today we recieved individual feedback from our fellow group peers, Jack and Connor.
From this feedback I have noticed that my feedback from Jack was very good and I didn't score a 1 which is not as good as most of the group in this respect for each individual section. From this I know that i need to improve my technical skills as this is something at which I feel I personally aswell as Jack thought i needed to improve on. Thusfore i have decided to create the magazine article from scratch. The rest of my feedback was very good and I was pleased that my group members noticed my contribution.

Annotated lyrics
Today we finished annotating the lyrics to our music video. All of our ideas are annotated into a simplistic form and there are shown examples within this powerpoint. Unfortunately the Gif's inside the powerpoint do not work when they have been uploaded onto slideshare. Therefore i have added the Gif's below at which show our ideas then.

Barbican Inspiration
Many shots of our upcoming video are shot in the Barbican area of London. We gained our inspiration from this location from the Shutdown video by Skepta. I like this video mostly due to the setting and outfits which are used in the video. Barbican is a very busy area which is also the home of media so we thought this could be a very good landmark to film at which also has many great locations to film. My favourite shots are taken in the Barbican where we also shot from many high angles to get the best effects. I very much enjoyed filming in the Barbican due to the very chilled out atmosphere with hardly any noise which was perfect for Connor to perform. Also there was many other people filming around so Connor felt more comfortable filming in this location.

Today Connor created a potential digipak cover at which has a dark background therefore for the rest of the digipak will follow the same pattern.
Interview with C.DOT
Today me and Jack came up with some questions at which we anonymously asked Connor so that he had to think on the spot. This was something at which we felt gave an insight into C.DOT as the rapper but it also allowed Connor to get more involved into the role. The interview can be shown below:
